About the Cook:
I started OhMamak during the first lockdown. I was homesick and missed my childhood favourites that grandma and mum would make.
I tried many kayas out there, but none matched. So, with the help of my mother, I managed to learn the recipe which was brought down by 4 generations. Now we have the heritage kopitiam taste.
Unlike commercial brands, OhMamak Kaya has no preservatives, no artificial colourings, flavourings or sweeteners. It requires a lot of patience and arm strength for making it this way.
We have 5 different flavours, including Signature kaya (coconut kaya with a tinge of ginger), Classic kaya (original coconut kaya), Pandan kaya, less sugar pandan kaya and Cinnamon kaya.
What is Kaya?
They are coconut jams. It is a jam made from a base of coconut milk, eggs and sugar. It is popular in Southeast Asia, mainly in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. As told by many clients that we have the most authentic kaya in the UK.
